Sociology vs. psychology?

Right now I am at a tech school working on transferring to a university. I know I either want my major to be psychology or sociology. After doing some research I have learned that you can get a job in the legal field with either of theses majors, which is what I would like to do. Im not super picky about what in the legal field I do but I would like it to involve criminal law. However, I also want my degree to have a verity or choices in case I can not find a job in what I would like. I also like research and experiments. My question is, based on all of these 3 points, which major do you feel would be best. I do plan on talking to someone at the university I wish to transfer to but wanted to get some points of view.
