Why do adults i work with wink at me when they say hello?

i'm 23 and i just started working in a new office. i mostly work with men and women in their 40s. whenever i say hello to them in the hallways or in their offices, they wink at me and say hello as they're passing. this has happened to me with 2 women and 3 men in the office.
