How do I chase down Mesprit?

Ok, I'm trying to catch Mesprit after catching Dialga. I went to Verity Cavern and saw him, but he fled. And now every time I even get close to the area the Marking Map shows him at, he flees somewhere else. How Am I supposed to catch him if he keeps going away? I haven't even had a chance to battle him....
